Touhou 1: Highly Responsive to Prayers Overview
As we all know, Touhou started it’s franchise on the platform of PC-98, it’s first game being a breakout game instead of a normal Vertical Danmaku Scrolling game. The game was initially revealed in 1996 and released in 1997. In this game, Reimu uses her gohei to hit Yin-Yang balls in order to hit cards and bosses in order to complete levels. Gameplay is similar to Arkanoid, a game by Taito, which later changes in the next installment and maintaining the same genre throughout the main game series. Unlike Arkanoid, the Yin-Yang balls ARE allowed to touch the bottom of the player’s screen and continue moving. And here’s story time. There’s no story really. In all seriousness. But all we know something hit the Hakurei Shrine and Reimu won’t let the culprit get away with it.
